PEER MENTOR CONSULTATION

Learn from the most valuable firsthand experiences

By consulting peer mentors, students will not only learn from their most valuable first-hand learning experiences, but also get to know future study partners as well.

Consultation may include the following topics: 
selecting courses, learning strategy, choosing laboratories, doing an independent study, applying for double major/minor/programs, transferring departments, domestic and overseas internships, overseas exchange, activities and competitions, etc.

Please read the notification carefully when you apply for a peer mentor consultation, and pay close attention to the follow-up emails to ensure a smooth arrangement.

NOTIFICATION

Pre-meeting Contact|

Immediate confirmation upon receipt of the email: The Academic Advisor will assess how things are going, and pair you with a Peer Mentor for consulting. You are required to check the status via email to facilitate the mentor matching process. (If the AAO gets no response from you within two working days after the email is sent, the Academic Advisor will contact you by phone; if no response is received still, the Academic Advisor will cancel the appointment.)

 

Change of appointment time|

If you have to change the consultation time due to an emergency, contact the Academic Advisor at the soonest possible time to make other arrangements.

 

Preparation in advance|

In order to provide individualized consultation, please prepare the following information for peer mentors:

  • personal information
  • the issues you want to consult about
  • expectations for the consultation
 

Consultation Record|

You must fill out a follow-up form within one week after each consultation.

 

Other|

If you want to record the spoken or written information during a consultation, you have to inform the Academic Advisor prior to the Peer Mentor matching process. The Academic Advisor will seek permission from the Peer Mentor; only with the Peer Mentor’s approval can you record the spoken or written information during a consultation.

Sharing conversation content with third parties: During the consultation, the Peer Mentor will share her/his learning experience in relation to your field of study and provide you with guidance. If you want to share what the Peer Mentor gives you with others in any form, you must obtain prior consent to do so from the Peer Mentor.
